This Hackmanite crystal is a type of Sodalite with blue Lazurite mixed together.

Under ultraviolet light, one or two beads reveal a soft fluorescent pink luminescence. The effect is localized rather than uniform, which is characteristic of naturally occurring hackmanite and distinguishes it from any synthetic or treated alternative.

The stone also exhibits tenebrescence, a reversible photochromic response in which the color deepens subtly upon exposure to sunlight and returns to its original tone once removed from direct light. This cycle is fully repeatable and does not degrade over time.

The mineral was identified in 1896 from a specimen collected in Greenland and named in honor of Victor Axel Hackman (1866–1941), a Finnish geologist affiliated with the University of Helsinki and the Finnish Geological Survey.
